Basic Life and Accidental Death Insurance  

            A $1000 Basic Life Benefit is provided. It is paid regardless of how death occurs. There are no exceptions.

            In addition, a $7,500 benefit is paid when a member dies from an accident. If a member is killed in the line of duty, an additional $7,500 is also paid.

            Therefore, the beneficiary of a member killed in the line of duty would receive a total benefit of $16,000. All benefits are reduced by 50% at age 65.
